Bridge Construction
The end-to-end process of planning, designing, and building a brand new bridge structure.
New Bridge Construction
New bridge construction is needed for many reasons including capacity expansion, corridor modernization, new rail alignment, and terrain crossing for where a bridge did not previously exist.
Phases of a new bridge construction:
- Planning: surveying and environmental reviews
- Engineering: selecting bridge type and materials, designing substructures (foundation), and planning for drainage and safety features
- Preparation: Building access roads and clearing site areas
- Excavation: Clearing rock or earth for foundations
- Construction: Installing foundations, erecting beams, installing track or decks
- Final Work: Grading, drainage, waterproofing, testing & commissioning
LRL Construction specializes in new bridge construction for railroad projects which require limited access windows, higher load demands, and tight tolerances.
