Our shotcrete is reinforced concrete conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface. It undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due to the force with which it is projected from the nozzle. Shotcrete works with any type or shape of surface, including vertical or overhead areas. For hard-access projects, we utilize dry process shotcrete.
One thing to know is that the installation process varies based on the application. For tunnels, we typically prepare the surface by scaling loose material, washing it down, and creating bulk bags, which can be stored on flat cars.
Next, we load a batch plant with the bulk bags, which are premixed with the required concrete, accelerators, and steel and palmer fibers. We can mix and pump on one unit, spray, and wait for the product to cure. This allows for a quicker, more efficient shotcrete installation.
